Spoiler alert!

I know I should wait until they're in my possession/on my face before I post this, but I just can't. It's big news in my world, which means it's totally blog worthy.

Yesterday I went to the optometrist for the first time in like, I don't know, 15 or so years and the verdict is, I need me some specs. Womp womp, I'm getting old and my eyes are giving me the finger.

Well, either that or all of my dreams are coming true! Yup, you guessed it. I'm one of those. I'm the girl who ALWAYS wanted glasses and now my wish has finally come true. (Watch me hate them in no time!)

I know. I know. Cookie Monster is wearing shades, not glasses, but for all we know they're prescription! He totally seems like a nearsighted kind of dude, don't ya think? But prescription or no prescription, Cookie Monster's here to stay. Deal with it! That picture is just to damn cute not to share.

Anyway, I picked out some frames that are tortoise shell on the outside and green on the inside. I'll do a proper unveiling next week when they arrive in the mail. Until then, be assured that they're pretty awesome! Oh, and please don't die in anticipation. You'll definitely want to be alive to see them!

Do you wear glasses? What was your first pair like? Any tips for a new glasses-wearer?

  1. Welcome to the Four-Eyes club :-) I've had glasses since I was eleven, and honestly, getting a new pair never gets old. I really love my glasses (actually, my own spoiler alert--I got two new pairs, and I'm showing them off on my blog next week). My advice is to follow the eye doctor's advice. Also, though, don't take them off with just one hand. It sounds silly, and it feels like a bit of a hassle, but it warps your glasses so they end up crooked. If you look closely at my pictures, my glasses always sit crookedly (do as I say, not as I do!). Can't wait to see them on you!

    1. The more eyes the better!! ;)
I can't wait to see your new ones. I'll be sure to head over to see what you picked out.

Good advice on the warping situation. I never would have thought of that.

  2. Well congrats to you then, haha. I don't wear glasses but I am surrounded by people that do. My boyfriend, mom, two best friend, grandmother, and uncle all have specs. It's probably only a matter of time before I do too xD

  3. glad your dream finally came true haha!

i have worn glasses since i was in first grade, my first pair were round, plastic and pink. think 80's style (seeing a was a child of the 80's) they were super cute. in high school i never wanted to wear them so i would "forget" them at home. but then paid the price because i couldn't see the board. good thing i'm just naturally smart hahah

after hs and in my college (and after college years) i would get 50's glasses and have my prescription filled in them. many drs dont want to take the chance on this tho - i had some outright refuse. i'm now wearing tortoise shell with pink inside. ive been bored of them for a while and have been harassing warby parker and getting the free try on at homes..then send them back and never order! i was finally going to order about 9 months ago and found out if you live in beautiful (sarcasm) ny you have to have the dr call in your script. because my script was JUST over 2 years old- they refused. ive been too lazy (and broke) to go back and get a new eye exam and script..i will..one of these days... but yes..im blind as a bat but have never really minded..i love wearing glasses except when it would be nice to just wake up and see..welcome to the world of annoyance!

  4. Lucky you! I wish all the time that my eye sight declines enough for me to get glasses.

  6. I'll put my hand up.....I was one of those kids too. As soon as I hit my late 20's the eyesight started to blur a bit. All I wanted was big, round glasses. Not sure if they suit me or not, but I love hiding behind them. :) Cant wait to see what yours look like!

  7. Haha this is such a funny post!

I got glasses when I was 8 and I loved them. I was only meant to wear them for reading but I never took them off and completely screwed up my eyes.

I have to admit, I never particularly minded wearing them. I only got contacts in October and, for now, I'm sticking with them as it's more convenient for wearing sunglasses, swimming, riding rollercoasters and other summery things.

I've always been quite fond of my glasses though.

  8. I've been wearing specs since the third grade, but it wasn't until recent years when i really started enjoying wearing them!!! There are so many neato glasses to choose from these days that I tend to go on glasses binges... I think I currently have four pairs bu it is so nice to change them up!!!

    1. I was just telling a friend that I want at least three pairs. The idea of wearing the same accessory every day seems crazy to me.

I'm going on a hunt for a couple more pairs ASAP!

  9. I have always wanted glasses too! I haven't been to the eye doc in over 10 years though, so maybe I should get on that :)

  11. I wanted glasses as a kid so bad that I purposely sat really close in front of the TV all the time. It worked. No one else in my family has glasses, and now I'm crazy nearsighted. I wish I hadn't done that as a kid, cause glasses are a PAIN. I ended up getting contacts a few years ago, and even those are no fun! :( Hopefully your experience is better than mine!

    1. Oh Alison, your poor eyeballs. I don't see myself going the contacts route anytime soon. The idea of shoving my finger in my eye is just terrifying!

  12. congrats (sort of) haha! advice: invest in a back up box of contacts. it gets really annoying having to wear glasses at the pool or on a hot day at the park or something. they'll slide down your nose from the sweat haha. just a tip! xoxo kellychristine

ps-just read your previous comment. contacts feel weird to put in at first but you'll catch on quick! it's so worth it and you can't feel them. at. all. ;]
