On Friday, I found out people were already skating on the frozen lakes here in Jasper and I lost my mind with excitement. I seriously can't wait to lace up and get out there. But, things have been freezing and melting, melting and freezing, so on and so forth all week, so I'm a little scared to get out on the ice. So, instead on Saturday, I just went for a solo photo adventure to check things out. The above are a select few of my favourite shots. Pictured are Annette and Edith lakes.

Do you get to skate on outdoor ponds and lakes where you live?

  3. Brrrrrrrrrrreathtaking! You make a great lady lumberjack too! ;o)
I alas, do not skate anymore... since as a teen my feet would ache like mad every time I tried (wide feet+narrow skates = agony!). Enjoy it!!

  4. Those are gorgeous photos! I'm so jealous you get to skate outside. It's almost making me rethink the whole live-in-a-non-freezing-environment decision. Way cool.

  5. These photos are AMAZING! And the idea of ice skating on a frozen lake is awesome! I've never done that before, but fingers crossed when we go up to Maine in Jan/Feb we will be able to!!

Also your hat is beyond adorable!

  7. How incredibly beautiful! Nothing like that here, but we will be getting an open air skating rink in the centre of town that I'm very excited about!

  8. In the interior of BC people skate on ponds and lakes, but I just moved to the Coast and there is no snow and I am so happy! :D

  9. So beautiful! Leave the skating for another week or so. Just in case! I would love to skate on a real mountain lake! WOWEE! When we stopped in at Lake Louise in March, they were skating (and skiing) on the lake, and it just looked like way more fun than skating on our little pond in town.

    Nice coat.....wink!

  10. You live in such a beautiful part of the world. I would so love to live somewhere where you actually get proper snow and ice - it's incredible.

  11. beautiful! growing up, everyone I knew played hockey. we used to shovel off the pond in our neighborhood to skate and play hockey. I think now I'd be afraid to put a pair of skates on though. I'd totally fall in 2 seconds flat!
